Your Responsibilities regarding the Presentation of your Work

You are required to follow the guidance from your assessor. It is your responsibility to address all actions and ensure your evidence meets all principles of assessment. All your work will need to be signed and dated. Typed-in signatures are not acceptable and will not pass quality assurance. You will not be signed off if your evidence does not meet all learning outcomes, assessment criteria and principles of assessment. Your evidence will need to be sufficient, valid, reliable, authentic and current. Please refer to the previous topis above regarding “Principles of Assessment” and “Quality of your Evidence”.

Your Portfolio of Evidence

Please bear in mind that your portfolio of evidence will be forwarded for quality assurance electronically or paper-based. As a result, you need to ensure that your evidence is easy to identify regardless of the format used. All your evidence will need to have a clear reference when printed. Ensure you type in or input the appendix or evidence reference on all your evidence.

All your evidence should be legible and easy to assess and quality assure. Remember printed work cannot be zoomed into. If your evidence cannot be read it will unlikely pass quality assurance. The likely outcome is for your work to be returned therefore delaying your certification.

Course Evidence Requirements

We expect you to complete your course unit by unit unless your assessor has proposed an alternative method. Completing unit by unit involves addressing each of the assessment criteria individually. Please use the coursework templates provided.

Please refer to the guidelines regarding the quality of your evidence published under the previous topic. Where you are relying on expert witnesses, please also refer to the guidance regarding expert witnesses located under the “General Information” topic.

This guide is to show you how you should address both knowledge and practical assessment criteria. For all knowledge criteria, you just need to provide an explanation.

1] Identify the assessment criteria that require just a demonstration of knowledge and those that require evidence of practice.

Please look at the learning outcomes highlighted by the unit above for clues regarding the type of evidence required. Any learning outcomes that start with “Understand” suggest it is just knowledge that is being tested. Any learning outcomes that start with “Be able” require a demonstration of practice. All criteria that require demonstration of practice will need supporting evidence from the workplace. Learning outcomes 1 and 3 above require just knowledge while 2 and 4 require evidence of practice.

2] It is important that you fully address each of the assessment criteria. Certain criteria might appear similar or simply require the same evidence. When responding please bear in mind the scope of the unit. If the unit is for example about using a range of media then your response has to focus on this. Please pay attention to the learning outcomes as they will also assist you to have an idea of the context your response should be focusing on.

For example, the learning outcome above requires a candidate to demonstrate how they (Be able) minimise difficulties in communication. 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3, therefore, require a response that focuses on minimising communication difficulties. 4.3 in particular does not directly highlight the candidate is required to demonstrate how they selected resources that minimise communication difficulties. By observing the learning outcome should inform the candidate of the context they should employ as part of their response. If the candidate just gives a generic response without highlighting how their selected resources meet needs and minimise communication difficulties then they will not be able to fully meet the assessment criteria.

Addressing the criteria testing for knowledge
For all knowledge criteria, you just need to provide an explanation. Please see the example below regarding Unit 1:1.3 (Explain the consequences of non-compliance).

Addressing the assessment criteria that require evidence of work-based practice

When addressing assessment criteria that require evidence of performance this needs to be done in three stages (3-point strategy).
1] The first stage is to provide an explanation regarding the importance of the criteria.

2]The second stage is to provide a recent example of how you have met the criteria.

3] The third stage is to signpost to your supporting evidence in order to prove your activities or actions highlighted under stage 2 actually happened. All supporting evidence should be clearly labelled and submitted as part of an appendix not embedded directly within your discussion.

When providing evidence please ensure it is clear how it meets the assessment criteria. It is not the assessor’s responsibility to guess and make links between your written work, supporting evidence and the assessment criteria especially if your course is at level 3 and above. You therefore should ensure you fully address the assessment question and provide any supporting evidence to back up your discussion.

All evidence should fully address the principles of assessments. This means that it should be authentic, current, reliable, valid and sufficient. Please ensure you also work in line with GDPR principles and protect the confidentiality of your clients, your employer and stakeholders.

Please see the example below, unit 2,1.1 (Create a suitable environment for the client to be comfortable to express their issues and concerns).
