Factoring Numbers

Factoring is an important process in algebra which is used to simplify expressions, fractions and solve equations. “Factors” are the numbers you multiply to get another number. For example, factors of 15 are 3 and 5, because 3×5 = 15. The key here is that the number divides without a remainder.

It is important to bear in mind that some numbers have more than one way of factoring. For example, 12 can be factored as 1×12, 2×6, or 3×4. You can read more about factoring by visiting purplemath.
