A prime number is a number greater than 1 which has only two positive factors. Prime numbers have no positive divisors other than 1 and itself. For example, 11 is a prime number because its only positive factors are 1 and 11.  A natural number greater than 1 that is not a prime number is called a composite number. Composite Numbers refers to a whole number that can be divided equally or evenly such as 9 and 14. A composite number is a product of two positive integers other than 1 and the number itself. 9 can be divided evenly by 3 while 14 can be the total of factors, 7 times 2.
