You need to know the responsibilities of being an assessor. It is also worthwhile to refer to your job description and specification in case there are other responsibilities especially when dealing with other stakeholders such as funding providers.
You will also need to understand the principles and requirements of assessment. You as the trainee assessor should be able to articulate “why assessment is carried out?”,”what is the purpose?” , “what are you measuring?” and your anticipated outcomes.
As food for thought,would you accept a learner on a course when you know they will not be able to meet the course outcomes probably due to their limited job role?
